Public crawling cannot get past a login. To capture authenticated apps and private pages, record the active tab with the extension and import the recording as a flow.

Record a tab

1

Open the page you want to record

Sign in to the app or page as you normally would, so you are looking at the flow you want to capture.
2

Start recording

Open the extension popup and choose Record tab flow. A guide overlay appears with tips, then a short countdown.
3

Walk through the flow

Move through the screens you want to capture. The toolbar badge shows elapsed time while recording runs in the background.
4

Stop

Re-open the popup to stop or cancel. Recording auto-stops at the limit.

After you stop

When you stop, choose what to do with the recording:

Create a project

Opens the app, uploads the recording, and starts turning it into a flow.

Add to existing

Pick an existing project and import the flow into it.

Download

Save the recording as a WebM file locally.

Limits

  • Maximum length: 90 seconds
  • Maximum size: 50 MB
These match the in-app video import pipeline.
Move deliberately and pause briefly on each important screen so the AI can extract clean, distinct screens from the recording.

Sign in handoff

If you are signed out when you create a project from a recording, BenchCanvas sends you to sign in and preserves the pending recording, then resumes the import once you are in.
