PDF import is rolling out gradually. If you do not see Import from PDF in Start new flow, it may not be enabled on your account yet.
Have a multi-page PDF such as a brand audit, research deck, or competitor walkthrough? Upload it and BenchCanvas turns each page into a screen on the canvas. Optionally connect the pages in order, or leave them as a row of screens only.

What you need

  • A PDF file that is not password-protected
  • Maximum size of 30 MB
  • Maximum of 50 pages
Unlock password-protected PDFs in another tool before uploading. Damaged or invalid files are rejected with a clear error in the import dialog.

Import a PDF on the canvas

1

Open Start new flow

On an existing project canvas, open Start new flow and choose Import from PDF.
2

Upload your PDF

Drop a file or click to choose one within the size and page limits.
3

Choose connectors

Leave Connect pages with lines on for a linear journey. Turn it off when you want screens only, for example brand or research decks.
4

Import

BenchCanvas rasterizes each page, names screens with AI from page content, and places them in a frame named after the PDF file.
5

Refine on the canvas

Reorder, reconnect, and annotate the screens like any other flow.

How naming works

  • The frame label comes from the PDF file name (without the .pdf extension).
  • Each screen title is generated from what is visible on that page, using the rest of the deck as context when possible.
  • If naming fails, pages still import with fallback titles such as Page 1, Page 2.

Credits

PDF import costs 100 credits, the same as video import. Your balance and the cost appear on the Import PDF button when credits are enabled. See Credits.

Add screens manually

Upload or paste individual screenshots instead of a full PDF.

Import from a video

Turn a screen recording into a flow. Great for flows behind a login.
