Capture from the browser

With the extension installed, you can start a capture from any web page without going back to the app and pasting a URL.

Start a URL capture

Open the page

Navigate to any http or https page you want to capture.

Click the extension icon

Open the BenchCanvas Capture popup from your toolbar.

Choose the scope

Pick This page to capture the current page, or Root domain to start from the site’s root.

Start capture

BenchCanvas opens in the app, creates the project, and runs the capture.

Anchors the capture on the exact page you are viewing. Good for a specific section like pricing or a feature page.

Starts from the site’s home page for a broader map of the product.

Browser system pages such as chrome:// URLs cannot be captured. The popup shows a notice when you are on a page the extension cannot use.

For pages behind a login, use tab recording instead of URL capture. See Record authenticated flows.
