# Competitor analysis

> Capture competitor flows in seconds and compare them side by side on one canvas.

Competitor analysis usually means opening a dozen tabs, screenshotting pages, and rebuilding flows by hand in Figma or slides. BenchCanvas captures a competitor's full flow automatically and lays it out so you can compare, annotate, and share.

## Workflow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Capture each competitor">
    Paste a competitor URL to [capture](/capture/url-capture) its flow. Repeat for each competitor, or add several URLs at once to [compare multiple URLs](/capture/compare-urls) in one project.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Lay them out side by side">
    Each competitor lands in its own [frame](/canvas/flows-and-frames). Arrange the frames next to each other and zoom out for the full picture.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Spot patterns with AI">
    Use [Flow chat](/ai/flow-chat) to compare the flows, and run [AI reports](/ai/insight-reports) like UX pattern detection or competitive benchmarking on key screens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Annotate and share">
    Add [comments](/collaborate/comments) where you see friction or opportunity, then send a [share link](/share/share-links) or [export](/share/export) for stakeholders.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Tips

* Compare the same flow across competitors, for example onboarding next to onboarding, for the clearest read.
* Capture both desktop and mobile [variants](/canvas/screenshots) of a competitor and compare them.
* When a competitor redesigns, recapture to keep your analysis current rather than starting over.
* For competitor apps behind a login, [record an authenticated flow](/extension/record-authenticated-flows).
