# Credits overview

> How credits work in BenchCanvas: what they cost and how to track your balance.

  Credits are a beta feature and are rolling out gradually. If you do not see a credit balance, the system may not be enabled on your account yet.

Credits are the usage currency for capture and AI actions in BenchCanvas. You start with a free balance, spend credits on actions, and can [earn more](/credits/earning-credits).

## Your starting balance

New accounts begin with **1,000 free credits**.

## What things cost

Most AI and capture actions cost a flat **100 credits**. Crawling is priced by [flow size](/capture/options).

## Track your balance

View your credit balance and history on the credits page in the app, reachable from the sidebar. It shows what you have spent and what you have earned.

## Chat limits

Separate from credits, AI chat has a daily message limit that depends on your plan. Free accounts get a standard daily allowance, and paid accounts get a higher one.
