# Hide sensitive info

> Redact personal data on a screenshot from the canvas before you share a project.

Hide personal data directly on a screenshot before you share a project. Use this when a flow includes real user information, for example a fintech onboarding screen, and you want teammates, clients, or an AI tool to see the UX without seeing PII.

## Redact a screenshot

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the screenshot options">
    Select a screen that has a screenshot, then open the screenshot menu from the screen or the [properties panel](/canvas/properties-panel).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Redact personal data">
    BenchCanvas detects personal data on the image and shows editable blur boxes you can move, resize, or remove.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and apply">
    Adjust the boxes if needed, then apply. The blur is baked into a new version of the screenshot so the shared image stays redacted.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Edit or undo

After redaction is applied you can:

* **Edit redaction** to adjust the blur boxes again.
* **Undo redaction** to restore the original screenshot.

## When to use it

* Before sending a [share link](/share/share-links) that includes real account or customer data
* Before connecting a project through [Connect AI (MCP)](/ai/mcp)
* Anytime a capture picked up emails, names, account numbers, or other personal fields you do not want visible

<Note>
  Detecting personal data may consume [credits](/credits/overview), depending on your plan.
