# Flow chat

> Chat with an evidence-grounded AI assistant that understands your flow, comments, and notes.

Flow chat is an AI assistant with full context about your project. Ask it about any screen or the whole journey, and get insights grounded in what you captured, not generic advice.

## What it knows

The assistant has context about:

* The screens in your flow and how they connect
* Page types and titles
* Your [comments](/collaborate/comments) and [sticky notes](/collaborate/sticky-notes)
* Screenshots of the selected screens

Because it reads your annotations and screenshots, it is great for pulling together ideas you have scattered across a flow and tying recommendations to specific UI elements.

It cannot open live URLs, log in to sites, or run canvas actions for you. When you ask it to capture, group, or rearrange screens, it points you to the matching [slash command](/ai/slash-commands) instead.

## Evidence-grounded answers

For UX analysis questions, answers are structured around what is visible on your canvas:

* Findings reference concrete elements, labels, and layout regions
* Recommendations stay tied to the screens you selected
* Research citations come from trusted publishers when relevant (for example Nielsen Norman Group, Baymard Institute, UX Collective, Interaction Design Foundation, Google Research HCI, WCAG, and the European Accessibility Act)
* Gaps and unknowns are called out instead of guessed

You can copy a finding or save it to a screen as a [comment](/collaborate/comments) so it stays attached for your team.

On large boards, only a sample of screenshots is sent with each question. The assistant is told what it could not see, and it should record those gaps instead of answering as if it reviewed every screen.

## Comment citation chips

When the assistant mentions one of your screen comments, it shows a clickable citation chip. Click the chip to jump to that comment on the canvas.

Ask directly about annotations when you want a list, for example:

* "What are the comments on the legal pages?"
* "Summarize the sticky notes on this flow."

Those answers stay focused on your comments and notes, with citation chips, instead of turning into a new UX audit.

## Conversation and follow-ups

Flow chat remembers the thread when you are continuing a previous answer, correcting something it said, or referring back to a finding. Short follow-ups work as expected:

* "Speak more about point 5"
* "Keep going with the remaining screens"
* "Where did you find that? There are no case studies here."

A new topical question starts clean, so an earlier audit does not bleed into an unrelated ask. After a response, the assistant also suggests follow-up questions so you can keep digging.

Replies match the language of your latest message.

## Ask anything

Use Flow chat for questions across design, copywriting, marketing, product, and research, for example:

* "Where is the friction in this signup flow?"
* "How does this onboarding compare across the two products on my canvas?"
* "Suggest improvements to the pricing page's information hierarchy."
* "Summarize the steps a user takes from landing to checkout."
* "What are the comments on this screen?"

## Chat history

Every conversation inside a project is saved automatically. Close the chat, leave the project, or come back days later, and your history is still there so you can pick up where you left off.

## A bigger chat

For long conversations, you can maximize the chat and keep it anchored to the right of the canvas while you work, so it does not feel cramped.

## Run commands

Beyond conversation, the chat accepts [slash commands](/ai/slash-commands) to reorganize your canvas, group screens, and generate screenshots, without touching a single node by hand. The same actions are also available from frame and selection menus on the canvas.
