# Preferences

> Theme, email alerts, and what to expect on desktop vs mobile.

A few preferences help BenchCanvas fit your workflow.

## Theme

BenchCanvas supports light and dark themes. Use the theme toggle in the app to switch, or follow your system setting.

## Email alerts

When you start a capture, you can turn on an email alert so BenchCanvas notifies you when it finishes. This is handy for large [Deep exploration](/capture/options) captures so you do not have to keep the page open.

BenchCanvas also sends emails for collaboration invites when [project collaboration](/collaborate/project-collaboration) is enabled.

## Desktop and mobile

BenchCanvas is designed for desktop. The infinite canvas, capture tools, and AI features work best with a larger screen and a pointer.

You can also use BenchCanvas on a phone or tablet. The mobile experience is lighter but usable: create new projects, browse existing ones, generate screenshots, share them, and more. Advanced canvas editing and some capture options are easier on desktop.

<Tip>
  For the full experience, use BenchCanvas in a desktop browser on a laptop or larger display. See [Using BenchCanvas on mobile](/account/mobile) for what works on smaller screens.
